Tony Soprano puts a quarter into the jukebox to play “Don’t Stop Believin’” and orders onion rings for the table. A bell chimes every time a customer arrives, deepening Tony’s anxiety: Will the next person to walk through the door kill him? What happens next has kept fans guessing since the final scene of “The Sopranos” abruptly cut to black in 2007. It has also kept a few of them energized enough to bid tens of thousands of dollars to own the diner booth where the much-dissected sequence was shot. Holsten’s in Bloomfield, N.J., which is preparing for a renovation, put the burgundy booth and yellow Formica tabletop up for auction on eBay on Feb. 28.

Rising cocoa prices aren’t the only concern for customers this Valentine's Day. (AP) — Dozens of Missouri Department of Corrections staff members are urging Gov. “We are part of the law enforcement community who believe in law and order,” the group wrote in the letter urging Parson to commute the sentence to life without parole. His scheduled execution on April 9 would be the first in Missouri this year after four were carried out in 2023. Steele said Dorsey has cut hair for prisoners, officers and even Steele, himself. Lesley and Johan Denekamp are keenly aware that now isn’t a great time to be selling real estate in central London. Nonetheless, in September, they went ahead and listed their 3,800-square-foot townhouse with Knight Frank, for $5 million. The couple are sick of waiting, having already sat out Brexit and the pandemic. “We don’t think we are going to live forever, and four million pounds is a lot of money to have tied up in a house we don’t really need,” said Johan Denekamp.

Story by Melia RussellPhotography by Lelanie FosterRuzwana Bashir is ransacking her kitchen cabinet for just the right tea. Bashir wears an Erdem floral-printed bra top, Erdem skirt, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, Old Jewelry earrings along with her own bracelet and ring. "Part of building a business was going out and sharing what you were doing with the world," Bashir says. For years Bashir's startup had been building muscle around these capabilities; now it had an eager audience. Eating at acclaimed restaurants is fine, but Bashir prefers the more-intimate affairs at tech executives' homes because, she says, "you can stay longer."

Cigna is working with an investment bank to evaluate options for its Medicare Advantage business, which could fetch several billions of dollars in a potential divestment, the sources said. Cigna's Medicare Advantage business generated 4.4% of the company's $179.4 billion in revenue from external customers in 2022. Cigna also said profit margins in Medicare Advantage in 2023 continue to be below its long-term target of 4% to 5%, which it expected to remain the case in 2024. Cigna has said it expects changes to the government's star rating system, which informs some of the reimbursement decisions, will lead to a decrease in the rating of its Medicare Advantage business in payment-year 2024. Cigna said in September it would pay about $172 million to settle charges from U.S. prosecutors that it overcharged the Medicare Advantage program by making patients appear more ill than they actually were.

During its more than 500-year history, the White Lion Hotel has played many roles; as a coaching inn, a venue for upmarket balls and parties, a provincial theater, and now as a house. The driving force behind its latest incarnation as a family home is John Hensley, who bought the building 17 years ago, for about $291,000. The building stands in the small market town of Eye, which is in the county of Suffolk, about 100 miles east of central London.

Among them were a who's who of Michigan Democrats, including Whitmer, U.S. Sen. Gary Peters, two U.S. House members, the secretary of state and the state attorney general. In Congress, the war has forced Democrats back to a familiar place where the establishment’s history of unconditional loyalty to Israel is being tested. She has been widely criticized by members of both parties — including fellow Michigan Democrats — who say she hasn't explicitly faulted Hamas for the Oct. 7 attack.

Rabbi Ariana Silverman of the Downtown Synagogue spoke about Ms. Woll’s recent work guiding the renovation of the synagogue, her leadership on fund-raising efforts and her openness to other viewpoints. “She certainly had her own convictions,” Rabbi Silverman said, “but she would really listen to different ideas and had the remarkable ability to say, ‘Let me think about it, and I will get back to you.’”

How Much Social Security Will I Get?
  + stars: | 2023-10-20 | by ( Aly J. Yale | ) www.wsj.com   time to read: +5 min
For these reasons, it is hard to know exactly what your Social Security checks will look like years in advance. Every year, the government adjusts Social Security payouts for inflation—these are called cost-of-living adjustments, or COLA—so averages change, too. However, you can start taking Social Security anytime between ages 62 and 70. Whether or not you’ll owe taxes on your Social Security check is complicated, but more than half of Social Security recipients currently pay taxes on theirs. You can use the Social Security Administration’s Quick Calculator to get a rough idea of your payouts, or if you sign up for a My Social Security account, you’ll get an official estimate straight from the source.

Health insurance provider The Cigna Group will pay more than $172 million over claims it gave the federal government inaccurate Medicare Advantage diagnoses codes in order to inflate reimbursement. The case centered around allegations that Cigna violated the False Claims Act by submitting and not withdrawing “inaccurate and untruthful” codes, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The department said in a statement Saturday that Cigna falsely certified in writing that its data was truthful. Medicare Advantage plans are privately run versions of the federal government’s Medicare program mainly for people 65 and older. That deal is designed to promote compliance with federal health program requirements.

Moving to Scotland in the late 1960s was a culture shock for Karen and Marc Ellington. The young couple fled their home in Oregon so Marc Ellington could avoid the Vietnam War draft. Much about their new country seemed strange: the food, the accents, and what they saw as a casual disregard for Scotland’s landmark buildings.

His death was announced by his daughter Susan Meyers. In 1970, as a senior manufacturing executive, Mr. Meyers was tasked with evaluating a possible acquisition of Kaiser Jeep. But the board proceeded anyway — and put Mr. Meyers in charge. To appeal to more consumers, he upgraded existing Jeeps with better engines, suspensions and interiors, and directed the development of a new wagon, the Jeep Cherokee. Sales soon surged, steadying AMC’s shaky finances and driving consumer interest in roomy off-road vehicles.
